Your float is probably stuck or your fuel system is dirty.
Try some carb cleaner if that does not work you may have to take the carb apart and clean it.
good luck.
The fuel filter is clogged and restricting the flow of fuel to the carburetor.
the bolt in bottom center of carburetor bowl has holes in it that are stopped up like mine was.
if it starts and runs for just a few seconds then dies it is generally a carburetor issue. clean or replace the carb and that should solve your issue.
Check fuel filter or sticking float: replace filter clean carb. hope this helps
Engine keeps cutting out. I turn the key off, then turn it back on in about 30 seconds and engine starts easily. but will continue to stop after only a few miles.
it is losing its prime... i have the same problem right now and i have cleaned the carburetor, changed the gas and spark plug and changed the air filter. The only thing that i can think of is that there is something wrong with the priming bulb or the gas cap is hindering the air flow... still trying to repair....
If you are saying the engine starts and runs for 15 seconds and dies and then starts again for another 15 seconds and dies . . . the distributor seems to be doing its job. You might want to check if there is a fuel restriction somewhere (filter or pump).
Fuel pump
when the engine starts in pretty cold weather the glow plug light will flash a few times until the engine runs smooth.
Sounds like that diaphragm between the tank and carburetor to me...pull tank/carb assembly from the mower, then remove the carburetor from the tank. whats in-between is the gasket/diaphragm(be sure to remove all the old material before installing the new one) that pumps the fuel up to the carburetor and into the engine. The diaphragm only cost like 2 bucks and you can change it in like 5-10 mins. Dont waste the money on taking it to a shop, as long as you have the tools to do it....
It's probably your IAC.
The fuel filter is probably clogged and restricting the fuel flow. If the engine blows black smoke before it cuts out, then the engine is flooding - look for a dirty air filter or a fouled spark plug.
