If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, then the torque converter clutch is probably sticking. The clutch is controlled by a solenoid, that moves it back and fourth. The clutch material can get stuck to the inside of the converter and stall the engine. Have the transmission flushed, and if the problem persists, then have the solenoid replaced.

The temperature sensor on a Vauxhall Astra 2000 1.6 8V automatic is typically located near the thermostat housing, which is on the engine block. It is usually situated at the top or side of the engine, connected to the cooling system. To access it, you may need to remove some components or hoses for better visibility. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific details and procedures.

In a 2001 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 8v, the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor is typically located on the intake manifold. It can usually be found near the throttle body, attached to the manifold itself. To access it, you may need to remove some components for better visibility. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for precise location and instructions.
