If you mean the CONTROLS on the steering column (audio and cruise control buttons) are not working, there is a module buried deep within the steering column that allows the wiring from these controls (as well as the airbag) to maintain their connections to the vehicle circuitry even while the steering wheel is turning. It is called a "clockspring", and it's a bear to replace. Runs $350-500 at the dealer. This problem is very common to the LS.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but if your horn and cruise control stopped working at the same time , it might be the clock-spring inside your steering wheel column cover . The clockspring allows a person to turn the steering wheel while still maintaining the electrical connections to your horn and cruise control buttons
hey i just had this problem and fixed it right away. this is what i did. check the fuse marked ROOM15a, at the left of the driver side, fuse box PULL IT OUT and change it whether blown or not, should fix it
The problem could be vaccum related. Check if the air vents in the dash still blow air. If not, it's possibly a vaccum problem
I am afraid I don't understand. If you are talking about reseting as in to set a new speed, turn it on, or turn it off, etc, all the function controls are on the steering wheel. Beyond what is on the control buttons, there is nothing else you can do. All control functions are there. If you have a cruise control that is not working, then there is no reseting it. You have some kind of failure that needs to be diagnosed and repaired. Something is broken.
must CHECK HORN RELAY IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT SEEK A RELAY DIAGRAM BUT FOR MEMORY I BELIEVE IS THE NO. 4 RELAY. I CAN NO GIVE YOU AN ANSWER REGADING THE STEERING WHELL CONTROL.
For the short term - remove the wires that leads to the windshield wiper motor. Then, it sounds like the wiper control switch that is mounted on a stalk on the steering column could be at fault. Working on these yourself can be very 'dicey' and I wuld not recommend it. Take it to a shop that knows what they're doing. Messing around in the wiring contained in the steering column controls is not for amateurs.
If the controls on the steering wheel are mixing up or not working odds are the rotating electrical contact ( clock spring) is failing. Replacing it should fix the problem. When mine failed I experienced the following symptoms. First the air bag light came on. Later the audio controls would mix up then the horn and cruise control stopped working.
There is a device under the airbag called a clock spring. This coiled tape contains electrical conductors, and allows for rotation of the steering wheel without twisting the conductors. If this tape gets kinked or broken, that would explain why your horn and cruise control both stopped working at the same time (assuming steering wheel mounted cruise control). To check or replace the clock spring, the air bag must be removed on most models, which can be dangerous unless the air bag is properly disabled.
speed control switch (on steering wheel) not functioning. There is a procedure on internet to test existing with an ohmmeter or if someone working in steering wheel area maybe harness unplugged by accident-believe only effects cruise control
If u mean steering wheel controls you need a patch lead .
There are a few reasons why the cruise control does not work in a car. The fuse could be out, the wiring could need replacing or something as simple as the buttons not working.
