put trans in neutral and put 4wheel in gear then go to drive in stop mode only
mine was doing the same now it is doing it with when i shift to drive Probable internal trans failure.
none. Automatic transmission cars are subject to trans failure if the drive wheels are on the ground while being towed. Some auto trans trucks can be towed safely, if they come with a transfer case that can be switched to neutral. This will disengage the trans from the drivetrain.
It can be in neutral but not far or at too high a speed. An auto trans pump doesn't run when car is off so you should raise the drive wheels or disconnect drive shaft after marking (easier than it sounds but have to plug tail end of trans or will lose all fluid) too far a tow on drive wheels in neutral could fry the trans
Automatic trans require the vehicle to be stopped (due to no sync gear in trans). Pulle 4wd lever to selected 4wd speed and as you start to move. 4wd will engage.
If it is 4WD, put put the transfer case in Neutral, leave the automatic in Park or standard trans in gear. If it is 2WD, automatic would have to have driveshaft disconnect, standard trans just put in Neutral.
If it has an automatic trans your neutral safety switch (located near the fire wall on the steering colum) may need adjustment.
Remove the linkage off of the trans and shift it there.
Incorrect fluid level,Linkage out of adjustment, Internal trans failure,
If you start the vehicle, put the trans in neutral, then put the 4wheel drive in 2wheel drive, then put trans back in gear it should disengage the 4wd. The 4wd drive is a electronic function. You may have to tap the brake pedal after you have selected 2 whl drive with the trans selector in neutral
Put your trans in neutral and move the second ( 4wd) shifter into the desired 4wd mode.
If the trans is full of ATF and the linkage is connected, the trans is blown.
