If you have the fan removed from the car, you can just quickly use jumpers to connect the negative terminal of the fan to the negative terminal of the battery, then connect another jumper to the positive terminal of the fan,and with insulated hands(!) touch the other end to the positive terminal of the battery. If the fan runs, it's fine.
Assuming the vehicle has a negative earth You connect the positive lead first The reasoning When the positive lead is fitted first, if you dropped a spanner across the battery negative terminal to the car body all you would do is make the circuit. If you connect the Negative lead first, and you dropped a spanner across the positive battery terminal to the car body you would then have a dead short
Connect the terminal to the body of the car first, i.e. the nagative terminal, then connect the positive terminal.
You don't, you connect to the battery from the battery of another car. Use the positive cable to connect the two positive electrodes and the negative to connect the two negative electrodes.
once a battery is connected even if the key is not in the ignition, there is always power at certain points in your car. Connecting a battery backwards will not start your car, but it can and will fry the wires to your starter.
Battery is located under passenger floor board. Pull back carpet to locate. Disconnect the negative termainal first, then disconnet the postive terminal. remove old batter - install new battery. Connect Negative Terminal first - then connect the positive terminal.
Always remove the negative (-) cable first. When connecting it back up connect the negative last.
Disconnecting Auto Battery Terminal ConnectorsYes, it is safe to disconnect a "car" battery while it's raining, IF you do it properly. When disconnecting a vehicle battery, raining or not, ALWAYS disconnect the NEGATIVE [--] terminal first, and when reconnecting, always connect the NEGATIVE terminal last.
Very Dangerous........it would be a dead short. andcouldcause a fire or explosion.
The negative teminal needs to be connected to complete the electrical circuit. Without that none of the electronics in the vehicle will work, including the starter.
Both vehicles off, connect red lead to positive terminal on dead battery, then to positive terminal on working battery. Connect black lead to negative terminal on working battery, then to metal surface on dead car away from battery. Start working car, wait few minutes, then try starting dead car. Preferred: follow vehicle owner's manual for specifics.
It will vary from car to car, but the neg is usually black, and has a "-" sign. Normally the positive terminal is larger than the negative terminal.
