1991 up Ford trucks and most cars use bosch gear reduction, (hi-torque), starters. Like most gm cars the solenoid is bolted to the starter. Some applications also have a starter relay bolted to the inner fender usually near the battery. People often call the relay the starter solenoid but it is not. The earlier ford made starters didn't have solenoids, they used magnetism from the armature to kick the starter gear out to the flywheel. That type of starter always has a starter relay somewhere near the battery.

The solenoid is located on the passenger side on top of the starter motor.
The starter on a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country is on the radiator side of the engine behind the engine mount bracket.
Ford still makes the E-250 van. It was the E-150 they stopped making, I think around 2002-2004
It has to line up with the fly wheel between rear of engine and front of transmission.
