this is a GT with floor shift and 3800 engine
Prevents the vehicle from starting in other than Park or Neutral
open hood and look on top of transaxle..black, flat switch..3x6 inches..no way that i know of to bypass..djones1..pontiac dealership
Doesn't have one.
To disable a kill switch the wiring would have to be modified to bypass the switch. This is not advisable as the switch is a safety feature.
The Neutral Safety Switch is located on the top of the transmission under the brake booster. It is clearly visible (from the correct angle). It has a silver lever/actuator and a long cable coming from it. It's also pretty easy to get to by hand. I need to replace mine. Hope this will help. -Darin- 1999 Grand Prix GT coupe
GM vehicles do not have a fuel shut off/inertia switch
The problem could be in the gear selector or the shifter linkage. Ensure the selector is not broken. Also, make sure that the neutral safety and the brake interlock switch are working simultaneously.
Seized engine? Dead or weak battery? Loose or corroded battery cables? Bad starter solenoid? Bad starter? Bad ignition switch? Bad neutral safety switch?
It only allows starting in park and neutral and it turns on the reverse lights.
