normally in the top region of engine where the cooling water (thick hose leading to the radiator) LEAVES the engine or positioned near the entry of that hose on the radiator(body) itself. it will have a wire coming from it and looks a it like a sparkplug turned into a tap point, measuring the watertemp of the coolant AFTER it has left the engine. On the block itself willl be the thermostat and oilpressure and oil temp sensors. The coolant sensor will be positioned a bit away from the block itself to avoid measuring the temp of the metal, so it's mostly on a plastic bodypart of the coolant system.
the temp sensor is located on the right side of the engine under the intake manifold on the engine block. Easiest access is from underneath. Location on engine: no special tools is need it to remove it
