Look for the upper radiator hose. The hose will go from the radiator to the top front of the engine. The hose will connect to the engine through the thermostat outlet housing. The thermostat is located under the thermostat outlet housing.
All hoses on the recovery tank go to the radiator.
remove the bolts holding the housing connected to the top radiator hose. go from there
Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator back. Go bast the break in the hose (where the radiator cap is for whatever reason ) past that right where it mounts to the top of the engine. That cast pot metal housing that the top radiator hose connects to is the thermostat housing . The thermostat is inside of that. If your engine is cold and the pressure is released from the cooling system this is an easy item to fix and you wont lose much anti-freeze when you tear it apart.
Open your hood and locate the upper radiator hose coming from the top of your radiator. this hose should go straight to the thermostat housing. You will need to drain the radiator and remove the hose. there should be three ten millimeter bolts hold it on remove the bolts and replace thermostat.
you should find it attached to the radiator & the water pump. if it is missing, that's where you should put the new one. radiator at the front of the vehicle, engine behind it, water pump on front of engine, with hose, or short metal tube coming out of the bottom of it. the radiator will also have a hose or short metal tube coming out of the bottom of it also,(the radiator should also have another hose coming from it at the top)
Your top hose of the radiator should go the thermostat housing. The bottom hose should go to the water pump housing.
The thermostat is located where the hose leaves the engine to go to the top of the radiator. You unscrew the bolts holding the hose mounting to the engine. There you find the thermostat.
IF YOU FOLLOW THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE IT LEADS YOU RIGHT TO IT. TOP FRONT CENTER OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. TWO BOLTS AND THE HOSE CLAMP AND YOU HAVE IT OUT THEN REVERSE PROCEDURE AND YOUR GOOD TO GO AFTER YOU TOP OFF THE COOLANT.
(For a V6) just follow the top hose comming out of the top of the radiator, this hose will go into the manifold, if you look at it you will see 2 bolts....the thermostat is located under those 2 bolts....
In your ass. Go die.
the radiator top hose, follow it, it should go on to a housing on the engine block which is bein held in by 2 or 3 nuts.
