It has a speed sensor on the transmission.
The speedometer cable connection is on the transmission tail shaft housing, drivers side. They went electric (no cable) in 1988 in the trucks.
It screws into the transmission.
hook it to the speedometer behind the dash and route it through the firewall down to the transmission and hook it up to the tranny.
It doesn't have a speedometer cable. The speed signal comes from the output speed sensor.
how to un hook
Find the speedometer cable at the rear of the transmission and unscrew the collar. Use a screwdriver the pry the cable loose. Leave the cable hanging. Go to the Dashboard and gently pry out your instrument panel. This will take some time, be patient. When you get it out unscrew the speedometer cable from the rear of the instrument panel and pull the cable all the way out toward you. put in the new cable inserting it through the firewall and hook it up to the instrument panel. Put your instrument panel back in. Go under the car and hook it up back up to the transmission. That it!
The speedometer cable hooks up to the engine in a Honda Accord. This is how the vehicle is able to calculate speed.
Hi i have a 1994 xr2. the speedo cable goes straight into the cluster gauge from the tranny.
The speedometer cable connects between the transmission and the back of the instrument cluster. To get at the back of the instrument cluster, it would be easiest to remove it. You actually can lay under the dash and remove the cable by pinching the connector at the back of the instrument panel and gently pulling it off. If you kink the cable, it will be ruined, but it's fairly strong. Just don't yank on it. At the transmission end, the cable can be unscrewed from the top of the transmission.
Yes, it does
There is not speedometer cable on a 1996 Honda Civic. There is a throttle cable. Top replace this unhook it from the throttle body and gas pedal. Hook on the new cable to snake it through the firewall. Properly hook the throttle cable to the gas pedal and throttle body.
