For the front of the car you can buy things called speaker kick panels which sit under the dash against the metal side walls of that area. They are made from moulded plastic and once attached form a cavity in which to mount speakers of about 5 or 6 inch in diameter. You can get them from www.machine7.com and i think empi make some as well. Because they are just thin plastic i recommend lining the insides with some kind of fabric or foam to eliminate vibration noise. The same should be done to the metal area of the car behind the speaker to achieve the best sound. The back is obviously much less of a problem and putting speakers into holes in the parcel shelf should suffice. Putting speakers in Beetle doors is not really a good idea because the door card is often too flimsy to really hold the speaker in addition to the high risk of water damage from leaks or condensation as there is only one sheet of metal between the speaker and the outside elements not to mention potential space problems with the window glass mechanism. Hope this helps.
