It means that a wire or part wit has contacted ground and therefore " shorted "
this can be a wire touching metal, or a part with a burned out component.
Many times people will remove a part like the starter without disconnecting the battery, and many of those times one of the lugs touched metal on the car and POW! electrical sparks.. very dangerous and harmful
