When it first starts raining, the roads are most slippery.
A dry road is most slippery right after it starts raining. Of course any road is most slippery when it is covered in ice.
The way I do it is to put the car in drive and drive slowly so I do not loose control on the slippery surface. Most people need to think of the following:Drive slowly enough that you can stop in an emergencyDrive slowly enough so that when the car starts to slip you can regain control before crashing.Allways remember the idiots around you will loose control and you need to be able to avoid them.Take the time to find out how your car behaves in slippery weatherBuy good winter tires
Just after it starts to rain.
Maintain the same steady speed you were driving at. You should NOT: increase your speed, change into the same lane. You SHOULD: yield the right-of-way.
Keep your foot off the brake and accelerator until your vehicle gains traction again.
Yes, under most conditions you can use overdrive. If you are pulling a heavy trailer, or the vehicle is heavily loaded, I would recommend you don't. If at anytime you a driving loaded and the transmission starts changing gears constantly, you should disengage the overdrive.
If the back end of your vehicle starts to skid do not panic and apply the brakes because if you do that the problem's gonna worsen ! All you have to do is continue driving but at a lower speed because this is gonna happen mostly on highways or a long road cause that's when you're faster and this happens. So continue reducing your speed gradually until you can safely use your brakes.
