Cars run on fossil fuels, gasoline, vegetable oil, and electricity.
The newest types of cars are the cars that run on water.
oil, petrol is oil
We will have to run electric cars, which exist today. There is talk also of cars that run on compressed air. Hydrogen is another fuel source that will run cars if we can manufacture it cheaply enough, and store it safely in the cars.
As of 2018, most cars run on fossil fuels such as gasoline or diesel; there is an increasing tendency for cars to run on stored electrical energy (batteries), but those cars are still in the minority.
Cars can run on Hydrogen gas, however the car's engine must be modified first.
Gasoline and ordinary diesel fuel are both fossil fuels, so almost all cars run only on fossil fuels.
They could make alternative fuels.
Future cars may use bio fuels or solar energy and may be run on water power
gasoline, diesel, CNG (compressed natural gas), Propane (forklifts-not normally cars), Hydrogen gas, coal/wood for steam powered cars.
