A C-4 will bolt up. However there are other factors. Early 289 engines have bolt pattern which uses 5 bolts, later engines have 6 bolts. I believe the change occurred during the 1966 model year. Also there are different bell housings as one model was used for 6cylinder cars and two other model for V8's
Be sure to verify the engine to housing surface to determine what bolt pattern you have prior to buying anything.

Yes, there are adapters available that allow you to fit a Ford 5-speed transmission to a 289 motor. These adapters are designed to bridge the gap between the transmission and engine, allowing for proper alignment and fitment. It's essential to ensure compatibility with specific transmission models and engine configurations when selecting an adapter. Additionally, some modifications may be necessary for optimal installation.

The same as any other motor. Knock the old one out, clean the hole with some sandpaper and drive the new one in. You may have to remove a motor mount, or exhaust so that you can get a straight shot at it. There are two in the back of the block that require you to either pull the motor or the transmission to get to them. The plug is easy, getting to it can be a real pain.
