Brake pads and rotors are which friction occurs in a vehicle's braking system. Friction generates heat and thus this is a way to convert the vehicle "energy" of forward motion into a different form of "energy" Heat. This follows of the laws of Physics "Energy cannot be created nor destoryed, just convert from one type to the other". So, basically there are two sides to a single rotor where friction can occur, so hence there are two brake pads per rotor. These two pads are clamped down on the rotor by the brake caliper, which is basicaly a C-Clamp that is activated by the brake pedal. As for a more indepth analyses on the "Role" of brake pads and rotors I can go on for ever because it is and extremely complex science, so your best of reading books on the topic. -Brake Engineer

Possible that the rear sensors are broken.

How do you change the front rotors on a crx?

You will need to remove the tire and wheel. You can remove the brake pad and break assembly, by removing the brake spring and caliper. Loosen the rotors with a hammer. The rotors will slide off. Reverse the process to install the new rotors.

What does a squeaking sound that starts when the car is in motion and speeds up when the car accelerates mean?

Have your brake pads checked. If the squeaking sound stop when you apply the brakes it may be your brake pad wear indicators rubbing the rotors to warn you to have your brake pads replaced. If you ignore it damage will result when the rotors and metal brake pad backing or rivets rub after the brake pad linings are worn away.

Do you have to replace rotors each time you do a brake job?

first measure the brake rotor then inspect the rotor surface inspect the brake pad surface if either is rough or irregular then replace the rotor you will have better brake performance and brake pad -rotor life thank you

What tools are required to replace front brake pad and rotors on 2000 Jeep Grand Laredo?

The tools required to replace a front brake pad and rotors on a 2000 Jeep Grand are lug wrenches, a jack, jack stands, and a C-clamp. You also will need a wrench and a turkey baster for drawing out old brake fluid.

How much to replace front brake pad and rotors on a 2006 Toyota Corolla?

Depending on the pads, around $150 for front or rear, and depending on the car, around $250 for the rotors.

Do you need to lathe new rotors with new pads?

I believe most mechanics recommend turning the rotors anytime the brake pads are replaced. Otherwise, any gouges or flaws in the rotor will reduce brake pad life significantly.

Where does the worn front brake pad detection wire connect on the front brake assembly for a 2001 vw jetta this came unattached upon changing the front brake pads and rotors?

If you are reffering to the end that connects to the brake system(pad, rotor, caliper) then it is almost always contected to the pad. Some are permanently molded into a pad, thus you would need to buy a new pad and contect the lead wire to that pad, or there is usually a place on the pad itself (including the steel backing plate that hold the pad material) where the wear sensor clips into. -Brake Engineer

Where are car roters located?

If you are talking about the brake rotors that is what the brake pad make contact with to stop the car. If you are talking about the ignition rotor it is located inside the distributor cap.

What is the cost of brake pad repair lately?

Assuming everything else, such as calipers and rotors, are in good shape, brake pad replacement can cost as little as $100 per axle, though that will vary based on your location and car model.
