What oxide is produced by the sparking of air?

Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

What oxide is produced when carbon is burnt in air?

co2

What is produced when iron combines with oxygen?

The short answer is iron oxide. However, there are two common iron oxides. When you heat iron in air you get black iron oxide, Fe3O4. In more complex reactions red iron oxide, Fe2O3 is produced.

When 24g of magnesium metal is heated in air 40g of magnesium oxide is produced. What mass of magnesium would be needed in order to produce 10g of magnesium oxide?

6g

In a volkswagen VR6 gas engine what components could cause the car to discharge an excessive amount of nitrous oxide and fail emissions test?

Well one your engine does not produced nitrous oxide. Nitrous Oxide is a additive to make it go faster. I'm assuming your talking about Nox? or No? This is a gas that is produced in all cars called nox. One reason could be a EGR. A EGR recirculates exhaust gas back into the engine to burn it more which takes out some of nox. It could also be the seconday air pump. This pumps air into the cylinder making it burn cleaner. If one of these things are not working it will set a check engine light so if its on go and get it scaned and see what comes up.

Can you put nitrous oxide in a non turbo car?

yes, of course you can because turbo is driven from the exhaust and nitrous oxide forces air into the engine

What is the Name of air pollutant produced by burning coal?

The pollutants produced by burning coal are Mercury-HG Sulphur oxide-SO2 Nitrogen oxides-NO2

A fuel contains no nitrogen but nitrogen oxides are produced when it is burned why?

Nitrous oxide (N2O), a dangerous greenhouse gas, is one of the by-products of burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), especially petrol in the internal combustion engine (The other by-products are carbon dioxide and methane). Nitrous oxide is produced at high temperatures, so car manufacturers are trialling methods of recycling the exhaust gases through the engine. This lowers the combustion temperature and less N2O is produced.

How does sulfur dioxide and nitrous dioxide get in the air?

high temperature combustion produces nitrous dioxide gas A2: There is no "nitrous dioxide" gas--only Nitric Oxide (NO2) and Nitrous Oxide (N2O; laughing gas). NO2 is produced by burning at high temperatures, say a car engine running lean; and also produced naturally by lightning. Sulfur dioxide can be produced by volcanoes or burning hi-sulfur fuels, like some grades of diesel.

When was magnesium oxide found?

Magnesium oxide is a white, powder-like solid which has no odor. It can be easily produced burning a magnesium strip in air. It is not totally pure as it contains some magnesium nitride also.

How elements become compounds and how the properties are related to the elements that combine and to the molecule that is produced?

a compound is made when a reaction accours eg iron + heat + air = iron + oxide + air

Is Nitrous Oxide lighter or heavier than air?

Nitrous Oxide is heavier than air.
