Regular oil is recommended by Jeep. Edit: Correct, Jeep does not make a recomendation to use synthetic oil. However synthetic oil will not hurt the engine at all. The recommended weight is 5w30.
All major brands of oil are excellent lubricants. Just make sure you use the exact weight that Jeep recommends for your vehicle. The brand is your choice.
You should be able to use soft to up to 1995, after that the body changed too much for the tops to be interchangeable.
You can use synthetic, conventional, or a blend in the engine. The weight called for is 10W30.
i use quaker state truck and SUV 5w-30 the owners manual reccomends 5w-20 Use whatever it says on the oil cap.
You would use the same oil filter for both synthetic an d regular oil in your jeep.
