That depends. Did you leave your car out in a Wal-mart parking lot unlocked with the windows fully down and a sign saying "STEAL ME!"? Because if you did then yeah that was pretty much all your fault.

Who will be responsible if your parked car hit by a stolen car and you only have liability insurance?

It depends on the state, but at least where I live, the insurance of the stolen car pays for damages. Check it out with your insurance agent. He/she should be able to give you that information, even if your liability won't cover it.

Can a co-signer be charged with vehicular manslaughter if he was not driving the car?

Can liability Insurance cover you when hit by a stolen car?

Not usually. If you are trying to make a claim from the stolen car's owner, you likely won't get coverage. Most liability policies have an exclusion for 'intentional acts' or claims arising out of the criminal use of a vehicle, which would include if the car was stolen. But if you have uninsured motorists coverage (many states require it), then you'll be covered anyway from your own policy and won't need to make a claim against the owner. Also....you would likely have personal liability against the thief so you could try to collect against that person.

If a car that was reported stolen hits your car why would the stolen car's insurance company refuse to pay for damages?

Probably because the owner did not exercise normal precautions and by leaving the keys in the vehicle actually participated in its theft. Call that lawyer who advertises on TV. If he can't get the insurance to pay, he'll get a judgment against the owner. The owner of a stolen vehicle is not responsible for the actions of the thief that stole their vehicle. If there is no liability on the owner, the insurance company does not owe the claim for property damage to others.

Who is liable if you allow your grandson to use your car?

The operator of a car is most immediately liable for damages that result from operation of the vehicle. The owner of the car retains liability when permitting use of the car by others. However, if the person using the car does not have a license to drive, or is a minor, the owner retains greater liability because the owner should not then have permitted the use.

Can the owner report the car as stolen when the co signer has it?

You can report it stolen but they wont do anything once they find out a co owner has the car. They cant steal a car they own.

What coverage reimburses a car owner if the car is stolen?

Who is at fault if you hit a car that is stolen and then the thief runs away on foot?

The thief. If you're wondering whether or not the actual vehicle owner's insurance carrier will pick up the damages to your car, the answer is "no." The owner's liability coverage is triggered when the owner is at-fault, and it would be impossible to assess liability to the owner if his car had been stolen. Now, if you hit the vehicle and YOU'RE at-fault, that's a different matter. It would depend on the circumstances around the accident (for instance, perhaps you rear-ended the vehicle and then the thief got out and ran). You could very well find yourself responsible for the damages, since the owner's carrier could consider the stolen vehicle issue secondary to you actually hitting it.

Are you liable if your co-owner of your car doesn't have a license and gets into a wreck?

You should discuss the situation with an attorney who can review the details and explain your liability, if any. The attorney will want to know if you allowed the driver to use the car regularly or if you reported it stolen. If you helped to buy and register a car knowing it was for an unlicensed driver you may have some liability. You should discuss the situation with an attorney who can review the details and explain your liability, if any. Is it unlawful to borrow a car for a couple hours and not return it after 24 hours and dont contact the owner of car?

The risk you run in this situation is that the owner will report the car stolen. The owner would be within their rights to assume the car was stolen and proceed as such.

Does liability insurance cover a stolen car?

Liability Insurance and the Stolen VehicleNo, Liability Insurance provides coverage for damages or injuries that we cause to others. It does not provide coverage for our own vehicle damages or theft.

A car with liability insurance only is borrowed and in an accident Car is totaled Whose insurance will cover?

When a car is borrowed (with permission) the insurance of the car owner is primary and the insurance of the driver is secondary. Here, the car owner has no coverage to pay for the damage to his/her own car, so the driver's liability insurance would cover the cost of the car. That is assuming the driver has liability insurance, if the driver doesn't have liability insurance, the car owner is stuck (unless he sues the driver).
