The correct tappet setting for a Minor 1000, is .012", or twelve thousandths of an inch. The best way to check them is one at a time, to the "rule of nine".
This is where the valve open, and the opposite one to be checked, add up to nine.
eg, front valve is number one, and if this one is down (open), then you check the gap on the rear valve which is number 8. So 1+8=9.
Continue with 2+7, 3+6 etc.
There will be two valves open at a time, and I would check the two opposites, but if you are unsure, stick to one at a time.
