The gas mileage has less to do with the engine and more to do with the car. A small engine in a larger vehicle can get the same milage as a large motor in a smaller vehicle. As far engines are concerned, a 350 is one of the larger engines that you can find a stock vehicle, so the mileage won't be the best, most modern trucks (1985+) get around 15-18 mpg with a 350 (also called a 5.7 liter) and cars get around 20-22 mpg, but keep in mind that pretty much only sports car get an engine as big as a 350, cars like the newer camaro's, chargers, challenger's, not geo metro's and Honda's.
