Rusted connectors on a vehicle's battery could be the cause of a car that won't start. The process for cleaning these connectors can be detailed in full on wikiHow.
A hardware or automotive store is probably your best bet.
Sounds like the battery needs to be replaced if it is old or the connection to the battery is lose and needs tightening. Is there corrosion around the circular connectors on top of the battery? If so, clean it off and consider replacing them if needed. That's my best guess.

Although normal wear-out of the standard lead-acid automotive battery is inevitable, there are a few things one can do to reduce premature failure: * Always keep the battery fully charged as extreme cold will adversly effect an undercharged battery more than one that is fully charged. * IF the battery is NOT a low maintence battery [has no caps or plugs to allow adding distilled water] then it is important to keep each individual cell filled to the proper level with distilled water. * Tap water is OK in an emergency, but NOT regularly as the dissolved "stuff" in tap water will build up and can reduce battery life. * Keep the battery terminals and cable connectors CLEAN as the corrosion build-up acts like a resistor and prevents full flow of current [as while charging and starting]. * Keep the top of the battery [between terminals and cell caps, or plugs, clean at all times as an acid film is conductive and can cause the battery to "leak -down."
coca cola can get rid of the greenish stuff that builds up on the positive battery stud where the cable connects, but you still need to remove the cable from the battery and clean with a wire brush for best continuity

The best way to charge any dead battery is to charge with low amps over an extended period of time. The best device for this is what is called a "trickle charger". You can find them at any automotive store. Make sure that while charging the battery you disconnect it from your vehicle. It is also best to sit it on a table, preferably on wood, so as to not act as a ground that will drain the battery even more. Also, once you're battery has drained completely, it won't have the same strength as a new battery, so make sure you turn off any additional electronics when the vehicle is not running so the battery doesn't die completely.
