I prefer genie garage door openers liftmaster is made by chamberlin they also make access master craftsman and a few others they are all the same unit inside with poorly made nylon gears that are not enclosed in any type of housing so they tend to just fling their grease right off and strip out rather easily and quickly trust me i replace them all the time i have seen FAR less gear problems on genie products the 950 (screwdrive) has no gears at all although in coastal climates their exposed limit switches can corrode and require a little maintenance also try finding the right remote for your liftmaster they have several different receiver boards and they all use a different color button and a different freq of remote genie has a far better system
