I've heard a bunch of different answers to this. Naturally it depends on the size of the tire but for a typical semi truck size drive tire i have been told by a firestone rep that it takes almost a full barrel (55 gallons) of oil to make the tire. I'm a little skeptical about that. Isuppose if you only made one tire you might need a whole barrel to start the process but like any factory, they make them in large volumes.
No, you can plug a drive or trailer tire - you just can't plug a steer tire or use recaps on the steer axle.

A typical semi-truck trailer tire weighs approximately 100 pounds. I received a shipment of 20 tires with a total weight of 2,038 pounds. 2,038 / 20 = 101.9
the recommended tire size, OBVIOUSLY. DUhhhh... 20.125 x 1.75
