Detroit Diesel produced the 6-71 engine for many many years.

Displacing 71 cubic inches per cylinder and having an in line six configuration.

This is a two stroke Diesel

Detroit produced virtually all of their engines in Clock wise and Counter Clock wise rotation.

Detroit also built a V configured engine Called a 6V71 using the same basic cylinder's, injectors and such but in a V6 layout.

The 6-71 was a very popular bus engine until the mid 1960s when the 8V71 series engines took over.
