825 is not gold 825 is probably 925 meaning sterling silver blurred or miss stamped
825 is a reference to the gold purity i.e. 82.5% pure.
The numbering system for gold is generally the karat scale. But theoretically, there could always by 825 gold. It would simply mean 82.5% gold, which is about 20 karat.
"825 CL" likely refers to the purity of the metal. In this case, the ring is most likely made of gold that is 82.5% pure, which is commonly referred to as 825 parts per thousand gold. This indicates that the ring is gold-plated or gold-filled rather than solid gold.
825 means the gold mount is 82.5% pure.
How much is it worth
82.5% gold /silver what ever the metal is
10k Edit by Cjulsh 10k is incorrect. 10k jewelry would be stamped 417 which is the amount of gold content. 10k is 41.7% gold. 825 is a lower grade of silver...most silver pieces would have a stamp of 925 which is 92.5% silver. Some pieces will use a lower grade silver 825 or 82.5% silver.
That probably means it is the 825 th copy if it is somethin like a store bought necklace. If it is gold, iit means it is fake. ---------------------------------------- Most likely it is .825 grade silver if this ring is silver coloured . Still silver but lower grade than .825 sterling
825 as a fraction = 825/1
percent of 825 = 82500%825 * 100% = 82500%
825 silver is a lower grade silver generally from the continent. Very common but unfortunately not worth very much. There are lots of good quality antiques our there which if they were sterling ie 925 they would be worth many times the amount of the poorer quality silver. The workmanship and detail is just as good but the manufacture price was lower. Regarding the jewelry, if it's new not worth a dickie bird. If it's old worth far less than it should be.
