the hole it is leaking from is their as a warning your water pump is going out . if you don't change it soon it will be a big leak
A bad water pump can cause your car to stall if the bearing has failed or it is causing overheating. A seized bearing will put excessive strain on the engine and stall it out.
If you have water instead of antifreeze in your cooling system, it will freeze! You won't be able to start the car, because the engine is connected to the water pump (which won't be able to move). If you have nothing in your cooling system (no water, no antifreeze, nothing else), then you need your head checked. Your car won't start either.
it circulates the coolant in a loop starting at the pump and continuing through your engine block then to your heater core and finaly to your radiator and back to your water pump. the main purpose being to push cool water from your radiator into the engine where it absorbs excess engine heat and then to get that same hot water back to your radiator where it can cool off again. it also makes a side trip through your heater core which is just a mini radiator that is used to send hot air into the interior of the car when you turn your heat on. if your water pump is bad it will usually leak and when you run out of coolant /water your car will overheat.
if your water pump fails, engine will overheat. You will have no heat in vehicle.
There will be no water pumped into your engine to cool it, then you might need a new engine.
It can break the water pump housing, engine block, radiator. Major damage.
How to change a water pump on a 1997 Pontiac Transport
Remove battery. Remove left engine brace. Remove serpentine belt. Take off water pump pulley. Take off water pump! This was the easiest water pump I ever replaced.
Fuel pump is what pumps gas to engine. Water pump is what pump water in engine
The water pump is usually on the front of the engine.
If it is a FWD engine then it is on the front below the water pump on the left behind the pulley
Engine will overheat. Possibly seizing the pistons and totally wrecking the engine.
When a water pump fails in a vehicle, the water stops circulating and the engine will not be cooled. Therefore it will get hot and overheat.
The water pump for a 3sfe engine is on the back and bottom of the engine. It is on the passenger side of the car.
Usually it does not, but if the water pump is leaking some fluid can be on the water pump pulley which might cause the timing belt to slip.If it happens you are facing a very serious engine repair in couple thousand dollars. Also a bad water pump can cause overheating which can damage the engine too.
