Nothing unless the wheel bearings are defective. In that case the bearings will eventually seize or actually catch the grease on fire. The axle may break and cause you to wreck the vehicle. Failure to replace a defective wheel bearing may cause a very serious accident and possibly death. Replace a defective wheel bearing immediately.
nothing good
you dont
you dont
Timken bearing better but I dont know
very dangerous thing to do the bearing could desintegrate in an instant and your wheel could come off causing loss of control and possibly an accident dont do it
Probably a frozen brake caliper...Possibly a bad weel bearing but i dont think it could stop the wheel completely.
Basically, Remove the rear wheel, remove the wheel bearing cap from the front of the hub. make sure the handbrake is off. so you can get the hub off, Remove the split pin from the nut and then undo the nut. the front bearing will slide out and then to check the rear bearing you will have to remove the rear seal without damaging it, but because its plastic with a steel insert inside it will probably be damaged. Check out the bearing clean and dry but dont dry with compressed air as they will be damaged by spinning without grease. repack bearing or replace and repack bearings, insert new seal and then put hub back on stub axle push all the way on, then put on the outer bearing, allatc washers and nut, tighten nut still allowing the hub to turn without sloppyness, put on grase cap. and your done. Pacnat1
remove the wheel, remove the dust cap, remove the cotter pin and the nut it holds in place, remove wheel bearings...put new ones in the same way they came out, pack liberally with wheel bearing grease and tighten to spec. measure the initial torque required to turn the wheel assembly if any of this doesnt make sense, dont even attempt it yourself. your wheel could fall off at speed and kill you/other people.
no you dont have to but it is easier and quicker to split the crankcase
dont know but mines shot and would be usefull to know if its possible to do myself to save a few sponders? sound!
If you don't replace bad wheel bearings they will seize up and break your drive axle. It would be cheaper to replace them as soon as possible.See "Related Questions" below for detailed procedures for replacing Windstar wheel bearings - really not a terrible job to do.
you dont need to remove hub just remove the caliper and spider washers on studs
