The slave clutch cylinder on a 1994 Honda Civic is located inside the engine compartment. On the driver-side close the firewall. The clutch fluid should be drained. Remove the mounting bolts and clutch lines to replace the slave clutch cylinder.

Checking the slave on any car is fairly easy: There is a bleeder screw for the slave. Losen it and compress clutch. If no presure coming in, then problem is before slave. If there is pressure (fluid) strong flow coming in, but no movement of the slave, than the slave is bad.
Most of the time it is because of a bad slave cylinder that does not hold pressre or is leaking. They use brake fluid and to check them look at the CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER near the firewall.
