Bot has a number of meanings in English. It is sometimes used, especially in agricultural areas, as a shortened name for the botfly, an insect that lays parasitic larvae in the bodies of certain mammals such as cows. It can be short for robot, often used as a suffix combined with another word to create a portmanteau such as nanobot (a microscopic robot). In recent years, the word has come to refer particularly to usually small, automated software programs and scripts designed to carry out any task - used in this way, the term is again a shortened version of robot. Finally, it is sometimes (not so often nowadays) used to mean the bottom, or human buttocks.
