A carburetor has two purposes:

  • It controls the fuel. There is a little screw, and if you turn it in, it allows more fuel into the engine itself. There is also a small jet that sprays the fuel into the air, and the engine sucks it up.
  • It controls the mix of air and fuel to achieve the desired burning conditions in the engine

ok but i'am getting oil in my fuel pump why ?also the 440 wants to run but shuts down or bolgs down after i get it started I've been having this happen over an over why? ty bob
