Pursuit Intervention Technique - this is where the police car will gently hit (at an angle) the eluding car's rear left or right side in order to "spin" the car thus causing loss of control. The best time to PIT is when the perps are turning a corner and you can really do some damage. PIT's work most of the time but there are some good drivers out there that have shaken off many many PIT maneuvers.
