If you are talking about a truck with a standard transmission, it could be coming in from the bottom of the shifter, the rubber protector between the trans and the cab might be loose. You may also have a vent opened.

Why does heat not work in 1995 Toyota Corolla?

The heater isn't an extra unit, it is simply pulling heat from the engine and blowing it into the cab. If the engine is not hot the heat will seem like it is not working. If the heat is not working after the engine has warmed up, you may have a fan that doesn't work, or a clogged vent.

What might be wrong with a 1993 Jeep Cherokee when the temp gauge goes in the red and a have no heat?

Sounds like the thermostat is stuck. It is supposed to open when the engine heats up to keep the engine cool. The same antifreeze fluid is used to heat the inside of the car. If the thermostat is stuck in the closed position, the fluid cannot flow through the engine (thus cooling it) and through the heat exchanger to heat the passenger cab. Why does a car take so long to warm up?

Car heating systems usually rely on the excess heat generated by the engine to heat the passenger compartment. There's a thing that looks just like a small radiator that sits in a fan shroud underneath the dash. When the engine has gotten warm, the coolant liquid that circulates through the engine and this little radiator also gets warm. And by having a fan blow air through the radiator, you get warm air that can be directed out through the vents in the dash into the passenger compartment of the car. There's a lot of metal in the engine that needs to heat up before the coolant is warm enough to heat the radiator enough for it to heat the air that you can send out into the cab.

What is a firewall on a 2003 Mercury Sable?

The firewall on any car is the wall between the engine and the cab. It protects the driver and passengers from heat off of the engine and in case something goes wrong with your engine. Most parts won't be able to break through the firewall.
