What does a purolator L30001 oil filter fit?

It fits most Ford V-8s, most Toyota 18, 20, and 22R series, the Dodge/Chrysler 3.3 V-6 (and presumably the 3.8), the Nissan 200SX and Sentra 1.6 liter engine, most modern Corollas and Corolla derivatives such as the Matrix. It fits MANY Toyota Camry 4cyl although some have a support bracket which causes an interference fit. (NEVER install a filter that rbas against anything. It could wear a hole in the filter causing loss of oil pressure, oil volume, subsequent engine failure, and possibly an engine fire.) These are the specs (specifications) for the Purolator L30001 Specifications:Anti-Drain Back ValveYesHeight5.14O.D.3.78Relief Valve P.S.I.8-16Thread PitchUNF-2BThreads3/4-16Type of FilterSpin-on Check on the Purolator website and look up your application (your car). Compare your application specs with the ones shown above for the L30001. The KEY determining factors will be the thread pitch & size. If that doesn't match then nothing else matters. STOP. Next, compare the diameter & the filter height of the L30001 to your application. If it is similar, it will probably be a fit. If not, climb under your car and inspect your existing filter. Is there room for a 5 inch tall filter to fit? Will the 3 and 3/4" diameter cause it to rub against anything? Next, compare your specified application size filter to the L30001. Compare the base gasket size. They have to be similar but not identical. A few thousandths off is not material to the filter's ability to seal. A LARGER difference MIGHT or might NOT be material, depending on how large the machined oil filter boss is. (Hint- A large ring of machined area on the block that the L30001 rubber gasket can seal to is sufficient.) Assuming it is a match or even looks close, proceed to the next step. Next, test install the L30001. Does it spin on without interference and tighten nicely to the oil filter base? If so, add oil to the engine and start it. Examine the oil filter and look for oil leakage around the base. If there is ANY leakage, this filter CANNOT be used on your car. PERIOD. Why use this filter instead of the stock specification? I offer several reasons: 1. Having 1 filter that fits every car in your fleet (or your family) helps simply inventory and control costs. 2. The additional filter size adds oil capacity. 3. The additional filter media can add filter life- possibly allowing you to use extended oil change intervals thus lowering your operating costs without sacrificing engine life. Be sure you know what you're doing before attempting to extend your oil change interval. Get your oil lab analyzed to be sure the engine and the oil is tolerating the extended interval. Some oils have insufficient additive to last very long extended intervals. Substituting this filter is a really cool trick, but not an idiot proof one. You MUST watch for oil leaks.
