Tweeters are just the opposite of subwoofers, they do all the high pitched noise. Sometimes they sit by themselves, other times they're centered above a speaker or just generally sahring the same space as the speaker.

If you hear the term 2-way or 3-way speaker, those are speakers that break the sounds down to make them clearer, they have 2 or 3 different zones to make either 2 or 3 different tones, 1 tweeter and one kind of general speaker dealing with mids and lows, or a low a mid and a high.
