Four way flashers ( Hazard Flashers ) are so called purely because they flash both front and rear of the vehicle. They operate on all four corners of the vehicle. that's my understanding of 4 Way Flashers.

They are two separate circuits. Check the 4 way fuse then check the 4 way flasher relay.

it sounds like there is a short in the wiring on your right side turn signals, check wire for damage especially where it is near sharp edges

YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE TURN SIGNAL FLASHER. IT WILL BE LOCATED ON OR VERY NEAR THE STEERING COLUMN UNDER THE DASH.

I own an 89, so they should be set up the same. There are two separate flashers for the 4ways and turn signals. The 4way flasher shoud be clipped under the dash on the driver side and the turn signal flasher is plugged in under the dash on the firewall, also on the driver side.
