Unfortunately the lifter tick is a common thing on the 86-93 models.Sometimes just using a good grade, and brand of oil and better oil filter helps. As a example my 87 b2200 I run valvoline oil 10/30 or 10/40 and a mobil one oil filter. All the 87 and up to 93 have the hydraulic valves and these are NON adjustable. The only good remedies are rebuilding the head, and or engine to reduce this to a smaller tick on cold starts and eliminate it for the most part. There is to my knowledge a complete tick resolve because of the Mazda engine design.I have owned my truck since day one brand new and it soley ticks when cold or having it sits for longer periods not driven.Hope this helps. It does not hurt the truck just maintain the truck and change oil as usual.
At a Mazda dealership.
yes
this car has self set hydrolic lifters.
?? Lifters not getting enough oil ??
No. The Miata 1.6 uses hydraulic lifters so there are no adjustments. If you are experiencing valve train chatter you have to replace the lifters.
All the 1986-1993 mazda b series trucks were manufactured in japan.By the way great built trucks for that matter.
it is the lifters, so you will need to change the head
CONSIDERING THEY RUN HYDRAULIC LIFTERS... YES IT HARD.
