It is losing spark or fuel. Next time it dies check for spark. If it has spark it is probably a fuel issue. My guess it is a tired fuel pump.
A bad spark plug or spark plug wire could do that. I'd put my money on the spark plug wires.
.o32 to .036 I always set mine at .034 always runs and starts fine.
replace cap and rotor. 25 dollars tops has new cap and rotor, might be the pickup coil in Distributor.
PROBABLY SHORTING OUT THE SPARK PLUGS AND/OR SPARK PLUG WIRES. HAPPENED TOO ME SEVERAL TIMES. DRY THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP, SPARK PLUG WIRES AND CHECK IF THERE IS WATER IN THE SPARK PLUG CAVITIES.
wire not totally re-secured
Will answer my own ? after $340 found problem to be a $13 Temp monitor
we have put on altenator, spark plugs, spark plug wires, battery, starter and the relay looks good and nothing has fixed the problem
My bet it is the spark plug wires or spark plugs or rotor cap if it has one. If the wires are going bad, they are worse "under load" (while driving).
Swap the suspected coil with another cylinder that is firing correctly. If the original cylinder that was missing now runs fine and the other cylinder is now missing, you have determined the suspected coil is bad. Replace it with a new one.
If you have an automatic tranny, and the fluid is low, it may not gear down on the hills and may possibly stall. Check this out first.
