Let the car get to runnin temp pull the transmission dip stick out and check level car must be on level ground
no, check the coolant reservoir 1st, if its full then after car is at operating temp. look underneath and see if any coolant or water is on the ground below the water pump if so the weep hole is probably leaking on the water pump check the componet if all check out it maybe the thermostat fairly enxpensive to replace so i would replace the thermostat and check the temp again but if the water pump is leaking it needs to be replaced
Commonly check the temp gauge on the dash.
No but the car should be at normat operatin temp
if your car starts to overheat you might check the thermostat first. When your computer starts saying the engine temp is 5-10 degress higher than it always was. When your heater doesn't blow warm air and you are not low on water. also if your heater quits -check your water first.

the transmission check point is under the car on the drivers side of the transmission. you need a 16mm spanner and you need to check it when the transmission is hot. and the car running. if you check the transmission when the car is at operating temp with the car switched off, the level will be down. the car must be in the park position.
