Standard right hand thread.
First remove the accessory drive belt- then loosen the large nut that attaches the fan clutch assembly to the water pump pulley being careful to loosen the nut clock wise not counter clockwise (It is a left handed thread)-now you can remove the fan to clutch bolts so you can separate the clutch assembly from the fan.
1 5/8 or 1 7/8 open end wrench and threads are left handed thread turn to your right to looseen turn to the left to tighten
the fan clutch is attached to the pump by threads which appear to be left-handed...You will have to secure the pully separate from the thermal clutch and turn clockwise. The use of a 'spanner wrench' is recommended which holds the bolts on the shaft secure so you can use a wrench to loosen the clutch.

Sears sells a strap wrench (Part #45570) that works really well for holding the fan pulley.
Mine are right handed(standard-clockwise to tighted, ccw to loosen.) it is a 1993 f150 4.9liter with factory ac. It says on top of the fan shround "Caution, fan threads are right handed." I have removed mine and it loosens counter clockwise (standing in front of the vehicle facing front of engine. hope this helps
mack fan clutch has left hand thread.i have changed them out before, hope that helps you
