No because if you took the car to the respectful dealership they should fix it quickly and for free. Also, it just means that you need to close better. On my 2011 Honda cr-v we have to make sure it clicks twice and over.
Engine that was operated with a loose , missing or bad fuel cap.
Check for a torn seal on the cap, look for cracked or disconnected hoses around the tank and engine.
if you filled up withfuel and the car was running this light comes on if not check and see if fuel cap is tight it will reset itself the fuel cap must hold a vaccume in the fuel tank
No, but a defective fuel cap can set the "check engine" light to come on.
Turn fuel cap until it clicks. Then you will no it works with out any leaks. If the fuel cap is leaking, have the cap pressure tested, I believe it should hold to 26.* p.s.i. Replace fuel filler cap if needed.
Fuel cap is loose or defective. If it is not loose then replace it with a new one.
fuel cap may need to be replaced its not holding pressure and setting the light on check with dealer they can test it right there
a loose fuel cap changes the pressures in the fuel system making the computer think there is a problem on older cars it set off the check engine light and a computer check was necessary..a common problem was just a loose fuel cap causing a false alarm
Any leak in the fuel vapor recovery system.
Yes, a defective fuel cap will make the check engine light come on. It will alert the car that its not getting good gas mileage.
The Fuel Cap may be secure, but there maybe a pinhole leak or microscopic crack allowing the 'pressure' that the fuel tank needs to properly run... hence the signal.
the vent in your fuel tank is not working properly
