Some cracks in a serpentine belt are normal. If the crack run the entire width of the belt then it should be replaced. Also if there are any sections of the ribs missing it should be replaced. Replacing the serpentine belt is easy on most cars and can be done with common tools.
If you leave a worn belt, it can break, and immediately some lights will appear on your dash, such as the battery/alternator light. You will lose Power Steering, and your water pump will not work. If you have AC, that will not work either. If you see the battery light come on look in the rear view mirror for the belt.
If it does break, pull over and turn the car off.
Belts are cheap, might as well replace it.
show me a diagram of how to change my serpetine belt on my 96 olds LSType your answer here...
its a harry pickle like brooklen
need a diagram on how a serpetine belt goes on
The long rubber belt, full circle that goes around the pully's in engine compartment?
there should be a diagram right under the hood on how to route the belt
i need a picture showing how the serpetine belt goes on.
Should be on the hood or radiator cowling. Y-THINK-Y
The diagram shows proper routing of the serpentine belt. Open your hood and look on the support in front of your radiator or look on the bottom of hood for the diagram.
look for the roller on an arm when turning the bolt to loosen it tilts and releases pressure off the belt for removal
If you had a really bad slipping serpetine belt and get a new belt you would feel a difference as the old one would affect the spark in spark plugs, but a new belt would also cause more friction because its more rubber thus reducing power output by a little bit.
Yep can happen as the pump isnt working then. Put on a new belt. Check level of coolant in radiator etc
There is a tensioner pulley on the belt and this should take care of this. Check the diagram of the belt routing just in front of your radiator. Tensioner pulley may be stuck also
