they shouldn't have touched them replacing an intake. this sometimes happens over time and also sometimes they break. if they are loose, all it takes is 5 minute to tighten them back down. easy fix.
no,unless he did something wrong!
I had the upper intake gaskets replaced at a cost of $181.00 but this also included new spark plugs. Two intake gaskets $18.50
I replaced a 1995 town car intake it also knocks now. Not sure. I'll post later when I find out why.
It is inside the engine between the intake manifold and engine block. Replacing it takes about ten hours for an experienced mechanic. An inexperienced mechanic like you would probably spend twenty hours before giving up and taking it to a pro. To help the pro reassemble your engine, at least write down the distributor position and label the pushrods.
There are 2 knock sensor on the 5.3L engine. And they are under the intake manifold. To get to them you will have to remove the whole top of the engine- INTAKE MANIFOLD. Why do you think they need replaced???? check engine light came on for 2 sensor
There is 2 on the 6.0L and both of them are underneith the intake manifold. You MUST remove the intake/ TOP OF ENGINE. To change them. IF YOU ARE NOT A MECHANIC, then you need not do it yourself.
replace intake manifold gaskets, if gaskets have been replaced and intake has been clean oil and plugs have been changed then your problem most likely would be the timing.timing the distibutor on a vortex engine sometimes can be tricky.
Yes it can. The engine is exactly the same except for the throttle body an intake. Just use the ones on the old engine.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe that is installed in the upper section of the engine air filter box
If it's the 3.1 or the 3.4 that's typical for that engine, you will have to get it fixed immediately or risk hydro locking the engine and then you will be buying a new engine, figure between $550 to $650 to have it repaired.
This is a common problem for all Saturn S-Series 2000-2002. The plastic intake manifold cracks at the coolant stems, even if the engine does not overheat. This is especially true in the southern half of the US (hotter climate). The intake manifold would need to be replaced, or repaired so no further damage will occur like overheating the engine. CarSaturn of Conyers, GA sells a repair kit to fix this problem- Worked for me. Link is below www.carsaturn.com Good Luck!
