How would life be without transport?

Since we mostly travel by car, train, boat or plane nowadays. Getting from somewhere to another place would be extremely difficult - especially if you had to walk on foot between two places far apart from each other. Before the turn of the 20th Century, the only three ways to travel we by sailing, foot or by horse.
