If you facing uphill with a curb -left Uphill no curb - right Downhill with a curb - right Down no curb - right Main goal is if the car moves out of park. It will either go off the road or the front tire will jam against the curb
set the parking brake, turn off the ignition switch and put the vehicle in low gear if your transmission is standard, and park, if it is automatic. The wheels should not be over twelve inches from the curb.
1. Turn on your right turn signal 2. Get about six inches from the curb 3. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right 4. Put the car in neutral and let the wheels roll until the hit the curb 5. Put the car in park 6. Put on the emergency brake 7. When you are ready to leave, take off the emergency brake, put the car in reverse, and gently get off the curb. Then put your left signal on, put the car in drive, and leave. An easy way to remember if you turn the wheels left or right is: Up up and away. If you're uphill parking turn the wheels away from the curb. Down Down in. If you're downhill parking turn the wheels inwards towards the curb.
Not necessarily. In California your tires shouldn't be more than 18 inches from the curb or you could get a ticket. You can park as crooked as you want as long as both of your tires aren't more than 18 inches from the curb or edge of the road. If I remember correctly, that was the length of their baton so it was pretty easy for a law enforcement officer to check the distance. When parking on a hill, the goal in turning your front tires is to make the car roll OFF of the street and out of traffic if it starts rolling by itself.
Answer depends on whether you are faced uphill or downhill. Facing downhill, turn your wheels towards the shoulder, so that a rolling vehicle goes off the road on that side. facing uphill, turn wheels AWAY from shoulder, so that a vehicle rolling backwards will go off the side.
to the rightIt depends on which side of the road you park. The rule is if the car starts to move downhill the wheels should be turned so the vehicle rolls to the side of the road not into the middle of the road.
gravity assuming the car was off, and not in park

TURN YOUR WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT, (IF YOUR PARKING ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE), AND ROLL THE CAR UNTIL THE WHEEL IS TOUCHING THE CURB. ALSO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AND IF IT IS A MANUAL CAR, PUT IT IN GEAR. Steps for if you are driving on the right-side of the road. 1. Put on your right-hand signal to indicate that you are pulling over to the side. 2. Pull into your parking spot and parallel the car within inches to the curb. 3. Put the car into neutral while applying the brakes. 4. Dry-steer the wheel to the left and slowly let go of the brakes into you feel the passenger side tire touch the curb. 5. Put the car into park and pull the emergence brake.
