Oil filters are relatively simple devices which are based on the principals of membranes. The most common material for which oil filters are made is cellulose. Cellulose as the membrane traps particulates in the engine oil resulting in the opposite side (ideally) with a decreased concentration of contaminants. Filters are rated based on the sizes of the particulates they capture, in addition to their holding capacity.
As the filter does it's work it becomes more and more clogged with filtered out particles. Eventually it will cease to work as a filter and the oil will just bypass the filter completely. Eventually you will no longer be filtering the oil. Replace the filter at every oil change.
A Purolator L14476 will work perfectly.
You can unscrew your stuck oil filter with an oil filter wrench. If the oil filter wrench does not work, punch a metal rod through the oil filter. Turn the oil filter off with the metal rod.
Briggs 19.5 oil filter
Fram PH3593A will work
PH3807A, PH6010A both work
an oil filter works, when the oil goes in to the gasket and then it forms petrol,!
I use Fram PA 6 but any size 6 oil filter should work
yes
The filter may be lose if this is not the case the threads around the filter may be "stripped". Try changing the filter if this does not work I would take your vehichle to a certified mechanic.
No because oil filter i meant for oil to go on the filter air filter does not need oil
If it's the same as my 1990 Skylark, the oil filter is located up inside of the oil pan. There should be a circular plate with a large nut in the middle of the bottom of the oil pan. Remove it (after removing the oil plug and draining the oil). When you remove the plate, some oil will run out, so make sure you are prepared. You will see the bottom of the filter. It has a little nipple in the middle of it which you are supposed to be able to grab with a pair of pliers and pull down to remove the filter. I have never been able to do it that way. What I do is take a flat blade screw driver, gently wedge it up beside the filter, and then gently work the filter down and out of the oil pan. You may have to work on both sides of the filter to get it free. The filter will work it's way down and then suddenly come loose...so be ready! Hope this helps.
