You simply record whatever you want and enter in the pitch you want to come out. So a singer can just sing a whole song on one note and then have their producer go in and add all the major tweeks. The same can also be done with any tuned instrument. Newer auto tuners distort the vocals and make them sound all digitized on top of that. Its really just completely messed up the music industry and its really hard to find the fakes from the real ones from a studio recording these days
