Also known as jumper cables? Attach the RED cable to the positive post of the good battery, then positive post of dead battery. BLACK cable to negative post of good battery, then to SOLID METAL on engine away from dead battery. Start car with good battery, then car with bad battery. Remove in the reverse order, and do not let the ends touch each other.
When making last connection, there will be a spark. If that spark is at a battery, it can make the battery explode- car batteries give off hydrogen gas. Procedure above keeps spark away from battery.
