the wire that goes to the pad will have a positive and a negative wire. make sure that the original brake pad's wire is still plugged in, but cut the wire just short of the old pad and isolate each wire so they don't touch. when that circuit is completed, your brake wear indicator will light up
The brake indicator light is for the EMERGENCY break, release this break.
Check which wire does each light-- earth parking reverse fog indicator brake just splice into the feed cables in the left rear light
Inside the bonnet at the rear of the indicator light fitting is a steel ring. This is a clip-in spring fitting. Once unclipped the indicator unit slides out. The bulb is attached by a simple push on fitting.
You have a bad ground on that brake light bulb.
The brake light on most vehicles is not only an indicator that the parking brake is on, but that there is a problem with the system.

usually the parking brake sensor is malfunctioning [or the fluid is low check this first]

This issue could mean that the fuse on the indicator light is blown. This could also mean that the brake fluid is low on the vehicle.
