On Cub Cadets 1050 & the 1042, this is what I do. I remove deck and raise up tractor till I can easily work underneath. Make sure you safely anchor it inplace. I then start to use a 110volt, 1/2 electric impact wrench. You can purchase a Chicago Brand for about $49.00 from Harbor Frt Tools and pick up some smaller size sockets from them too. You will see a black metal guard over the pulleys. Mark with a marker on the pulley where the guard fits in the elect pulley gap. And mark which hole the guard fits in on other side of tractor. Use the impact to remove the one screw holding metal guard over the pulleys. Unplug wire going to elect clutch. Tap on electric clutch with rubber hammer, normally it will fall down easily. The top pulley is another problem. I use a metal bar about 10" long and a large hammer and bend "away" from the pulley the formed metal guards sticking down around the pulley. One in front and one on each side. BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT THE PULLEY. Take off old belt. Carefully fit new belt over fan and around trans pulley. Sweezing belt together, feed between body of mower and framework that holds steering assembly. Carefully fit over engine pulley. You will see 2 other pulleys near middle of tractor. Looking upwards, run one side of belt on outside of Rt side pulley. Then on left, run belt outside of pulley nearest back of tractor and outside on one in front of it. Might have to push in idler pulley to make belt slip over the ones on the left. Take metal bar & hammer and CAREFULLY bend those metal guards back to about 3/8" from engine pulley. DON"T HIT PULLEY. Then slide big washer, then electric clutch on engine shaft, (has a key way), and tighten bolt & split washer with impact. Then partially tighten guard screw so you can fit elect clutch gap inplace on guard and other side of guard in it's proper hole on side of tractor body. Plug electric clutch back in. Test it out before putting deck back on.
